The first three of seven mosaic as the so-called Mithraeum of Felicissimus. There
were seven steps in Mithaic initiation (Raven - Bridegroom - Soldier - Lion - Persian - Courier of the Sun - Father),
which may corrspond to these mosaics.
The first mosaic states that Felicissimus made this in fulfillment of his vow (Felicissimus ex voto f(ecit) ).
The 2nd mosaic refers to the
planet Saturn (sickle); Pater's degree, the hierarchy's supreme one or magus (Mithras's hat), and the command stick and patera for libations.
The 3rd mosaic shows Heliodromus, the Courier
of the Sun. The symbols are a whip, a radiate halo and a torch.
Our primary source for these interpretations is Mithras, the Secret God, by M.J. Vermaseren, London, 1963.
