Mosaic from House of the Faun, Pompeii (VI,12,2), showing the battle between Alexander the Great and King Darius of Persia. The mosaic was probably based on a painting by the famous Greek artist, Philoxenes. The mosaic was located in the hall of the House of the Faun, having a roof supported by Corinthian columns.
